My musical project developing carreer began in 1998 as I took the initiative to creating a composers' group for lovers of choral music. Together with my dear friends Peter Lindeman Jørgensen and Morten Hansen I founded Komvest - Vesterbro Komponistforening. Our aim was composing and performing choral music with respect to the rich tradition within this area, and in particular to the words we decide to set in music and the musicians who are going to perform the music. Therefore we took advantage of a close collaboration with singers, musicians and conductors, from whom we gathered more and more experience about the essence for that musical matter that we had chosen to devote our hearts to. We believe in close communication between all of the elements which, combined, create a musical work: inspiration, composition, rehearsal and performance. As composers we participate in all of these elements, being present throughout the birth giving of music in all its aspects. You might say that we formed a group of classical composers who act as a band!
Today Komvest has 15 members: Jexper Holmen (JH, 2009), Gregers Brich (GB, 2009), Eva Rotenberg (ER, 2008), Martin Palsmar (MAP, 2007), Benjamin de Murashkin (BM, 2006), John Erik Ekberg (JEE, 2005), Pernille Louise Sejlund (PLS, 2004), Bjarke Moe (BM, 2004), Morten Poulsen (MOP, 2002), Thomas Løbger (TL, 2002), Thomas Hjort Jensen (THJ, 2000), Kasper Nefer Olsen (KNO, 2000), Morten Hansen (MH, 1999), Peter Lindeman Jørgensen (PLJ, 1999), Christian Hildebrandt (CH, 1999)
Komvest is driven by an elected committee, which is responsible for the administration, and Komvest is the mother of several different concert projects for performance of the members' music. I am the manager of two such projects: Komvest Kormusik and Komvest Kammermusik.
Every spring Komvest presents the project Komvest Choral Music (Komvest Kormusik) in Copenhagen with the participation of about 30 outstanding choir singers and a highly regarded choir conductor, where first performances of new works - composed by our members - are shown.
All concerts are recorded as a documentary, and for promotion of the Komvest composers we have made a CD recording of live performances from the Komvest Spring Projects every year since 1999.
In addition to these projects several other Komvest concerts have been held over the years. In 2005 we decided to expand our principal activities with an additional autumn project called Komvest Chamber Music (Komvest Kammermusik) , performed as an annual event and featuring primarily instrumental chamber music.February 28th 2006 I entered MySpace, and soon realized a possibiliy to create an international appearance of Komvest from this site. One by one the composers followed into this new area. Through MySpace Morten Hansen and I became acquainted with the poet Mark Hillman from Dorset, UK, and the spring projects in 2007 showed the first results of an ongoing collaboration with this fine artist. Also the London based pianist and minimalist Lola Perrin who I invited as guest performer in the Komvest Autumn project 2006 and again in March 2007, where she performed piano pieces written by Kasper Neter Olsen, Morten Poulsen, Pernille Louise Sejlund and myself.
Discovering MySpace was only the beginning of my extended journey into musical web2.0 networking, which means that now I have represented Komvest and myself in many and continuously developing ways on Facebook and last.fm. What will be the next? I have a more and more clearly marked feeling about the internet and social networking which makes be believe that a certain flowting presence at all new kinds of platforms, exploring, following and developing the connections already made and constantly expanding the network. The web3.0 social networker doesn't stick to a final platform - no this "free avatar" moves around as a free profile picture always carrying a track of luggage, such as links from delicious, pictures at flickr, social habits on facebook, music on last.fm and so on... depending on what kind of platforms we will see in the future. Good bye matrix and welcome to the real world of being everywhere always on the move...
Here is the complete list (April 2008) of the Komvest projects, which I have been the manager for:
